Courmayeur/ Pre Saint Didier
Courmayeur in Italy is a charming small town at the foot of Mt Blanc, (Monte Bianco) in Italian. From France Courmayeur is normally accessed via the 7.2 mile Mt Blanc Tunnel.
Upon emerging fromm the tunnel into the Aosta Valley, you can’t help but notice Courmayeur’s famous Skyway Mt Blanc cable car, with its 360 degree rotating cabins. The Skyway takes people up to an altitude of 3500m and offers views of mountain peaks like the Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn in Switzerland.
Courmayeur town its self has a large and varied selection of restaurants and shops including many artisan shops, selling local produce including cheese and cured meats. We have experienced the best pizzas ever had in this little town.
Just outside of Courmayeur are the Saussurea Alpine Botanical Gardens, where you will find medicinal and high-altitude plants, as well as a large area of Alpine pasture.
Pre Saint Didier, a 10 minute drive from Courmayeur, is a quaint town famous for its natural thermal baths. Here you can forget the everyday stress, recharge your batteries in the ambience from a bygone era, immerse yourself in the soft warmth of the water and let yourself be lulled by gentle hydro-massages.
